Characteristics of the liposuction procedure
- The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia.
- The duration of the procedure depends on the number of areas to be treated.
- Surgery is done on an outpatient basis or with an overnight stay in the hospital.
- A compression garment (panty or girdle) must be worn for 3 weeks.
- Depending on your professional activity, the recommended time off work (not covered by Social Security) will be 3 to 8 days.
Scars after liposuction
Liposuction is performed through small incisions of less than 5 mm. They are almost invisible.
Possible complications after liposuction
- Thrombo-embolic complications such as phlebitis are rare. They are prevented by steps such as wearing compression stockings.
- Bruises are common in the treated areas. They gradually disappear in a few weeks.
- Imperfections such as surface irregularities are rare. They are easily corrected under local anesthesia.
